Now you know this has to be a great video (moving & powerful) if it's going to inspire me to post something on this blog after nearly 5 months without updating at all. The title pretty much explains it all but for a little more clarity; the speech is from a Charlie Chaplin film The Great Dictator in which a poor jewish barber is mistaken for Adolf Hitler. The video I posted below has images interlaced with the speech for impact & I think it does a pretty good job of helping the message have more impact. Enjoy & share it.
I didn't get to watch the entire Indy 500 this past weekend but what I did notice while watching the aerial shots was this giant roll-in & massive orange jump at one end of the in-field. Well, thanks to StumbleUpon this morning, I learned what that ramp was all about. Tanner Foust (Hot Wheels team driver) just set a new world record for the longest 4x4 truck jump at 332 feet. Check out the videos below to check it out. FYI, his identity was kept a secret until after the jump which is why his face is pixelated in the video. Enjoy!
Here is a video where Tanner talks about the jump during practice.
If you've been following my blog for awhile now then you've heard of Hidden Clothing video edits. If you've seen any of them in the past year or two then you know that the filming is really good and the riding is amazing. This recent edit from the Spring of 2011 is no exception. Check it out and enjoy a north Texas clothing company doing their thing to show support for the BMX scene.
Granted this is more of a short film than a commercial for Taiwanese TC Bank considering it's 3 minutes long but it is still very inspirational. I hope to have that same sort of gumption when I'm in my 70s. Based on a true story which is documented in the film "Go Grandriders."
I just stumbled upon this amazing video shot on some mountain slopes somewhere using a camera that records in 360 degrees. The video player even gives you the ability to click and drag the view around while it's playing. Check out this amazing video and don't be afraid to click & drag on the video to change the viewpoint while it's playing.
How I Met Your Mother is one of those truly great TV sitcoms that will live on forever in syndication. I am a huge fan of this show & while stumbling around the internet I came across this photo with a "Barney-ism" that made me desire even more so I YouTubed Barney Stinson and found the compilation video below with more great "Barney-isms."
The Bro Code is a book written by the character Barney Stinson (played by Neill Patrick Harris) that outlines the rules that every man should live by & every episode of "How I Met Your Mother" ends with a Bro Code. You can find a full list of all the Bro Codes HERE or you can buy your own copy at AMAZON. Check them out, they're pretty funny.
This trailer makes this video look like it's going to be absolutely epic! I can't wait to see it. According to the info on YouTube it's going to be released in September of 2011. If you've ever been interested in Snowboarding or just a fan of amazing filmmaking then check out this trailer. It doesn't disappoint.
This is really impressive and to think of the time it took to get the choreography on this correct is even more impressive. I found this while stumbling around the internet. Enjoy!
The 1986 BMX film "RAD" was (and still is) one of my most favorite movies EVER. I remember watching that movie 6 times the weekend we rented it from Blockbuster. I loved that movie and I'm sure it played a huge part in my love for the sport of BMX that I still participate in some 25 years later. That is why I am excited to share the news that documentary film is being released about the making of the movie. I can't wait to see it. Check out the trailer.
If you've never seen a Joe Simon film (which is unlikely if you've seen my blog before) then you're unaware of the skills he has behind the lens & with editing. Joe has made the majority of my favorite BMX films (not to mention some amazing wedding films) of all time. Recently, some of the Mutiny Bikes team riders took a 4 day trip around Fort Worth, Dallas & my hometown of Denton, TX. As usual, Joe produced the following film that makes BMX look as artistic as it truly can be. Enjoy this edit and then check out Joe's VIMEO profile for more of his work.
While watching the NBA San Antonio Spurs vs. Chicago Bulls game tonight I saw this first Bacardi Gold commercial and it made me LOL. The second one is pretty funny too. Enjoy! Oh yeah, GO SPURS!!!
I don't remember exactly how I came across this website (mostly because I've spent the last 3 hours perusing their site & can't remember where it all started) but being a "car guy" I'm a little disappointed in myself that I haven't visited it before. As you can tell by the name of the site, TheSmokingTire.com is a website for anyone who likes cool or fast cars & enjoys watching videos of said cars doing what they do best. The main host of the episodes that they post on-line is Matt Farah and I must say he's rather entertaining. Like I mentioned, I've spent quite a few hours clicking through page after page of their webisite and have truly enjoyed the videos and posts that I clicked on. I've decided to post a few of my favorites below so you can get an idea of what their site is all about. Anyways, if you're a "gear head" like me then check it out and let me know what you think. Enjoy!
This first video is a music video from one of my favorite musicians Sir Mix-A-Lot. The song is entitled Carz (with a Z) and it's chock full of actual car knowledge, plus it's kind of a catchy tune.
The next video is one of my favorite TV personalities (& a hell of driver to boot) Tanner Foust drifting his way up Mulholland Dr. in California.
This last video is one I found on The Smoking Tire but it doesn't exactly relate to cars other than the fact that it was filmed at a McDonald's drive-thru window. The customer gets mad that they won't serve her Chicken McNuggets at 6 am so she attacks the employee. Watch all the way to the end because the next customer pulls up like nothing happened for their Big Mac. Hilarious.
I got to work super early this morning thanks to daylight savings time so I figured I would kill a little time by stumbling (with StumbleUpon) around the internet. My travels around the world wide web lead me to a video of a street performer from Australia that goes by the name of Dub FX. He's a one-man band that uses voice loops & his beatbox skills to make some amazing music. I compiled a few of his videos here so you can take a listen for yourself and decide if you like them. I personally love them. Enjoy!
I recently got my first Apple MacBook and decided to make a video using Final Cut Express. Nothing particularly entertaining about this video but then again I didn't make it to entertain, I made it so I could learn more about video editing.
I was a little skeptical when I clicked on the link to see the trailer for Accelerate - the BMX movie but it actually looks like it could have some potential to be a good film. Check out the trailer and then help spread the word.
I can't remember where I found THIS but I came across a great article about the word "dude" and the history behind such a versatile TERM. Did you know that dude goes back as early as the 1800s? I had no clue. The article also reminded me of a funny Bud Light commercial expressing the variety of situations in which the term "dude" is applicable. Click the link above to read the history of the word and then watch the video below.
Now you all know that I am very passionate about BMX & I post a lot of stuff on this blog that only my fellow BMXers enjoy but THIS will be interesting to just about anybody who can appreciate the risks taken by modern day stunt men. Ryan Fudger of RideBMX posted an article about his opinion of the 5 craziest things ever done on a BMX bike and I must agree, he has a damn good list. As you can imagine, the "Condor" Mat Hoffman is on the list, as well as "Rooftop" Mike Escamilla & Colin Winkleman. You will definitely want to watch the videos posted below and then follow the link above to see what came in at #5 and some honorable mentions.
