The skatepark is now officially open. Go shred the place, now!
Yet another update:
Yesterday while I was riding Eisenberg's Skatepark in Plano, I heard from a friend that the Lewisville skatepark is open during the week now. After hearing that, I drove over there and found the gate was open and people were shredding the place. According to his conversation with the Parks & Rec Dept., they are opening the park during the week as long as the construction guys aren't working on the park. I get the impression that it is now open all the time. According to some friends, they aren't turning the lights on yet so it closes down at sunset but that still gives you all day to ride. Enjoy!
Hours of Operation update:
I have heard some news about when the park will be open so please CLICK HERE to find out more. Thanks
Another Update about Opening Day:
As you can see from the comments below, the Lewisville skatepark opened today October 17th. I spoke to a City of Lewisville Parks & Rec guy and he said they are only going to be open the 17th and 18th and then will close down again until November 2nd. So if you're in the area this weekend go shread the place because otherwise you'll have to wait another 2 weeks. Enjoy the place, I sure did!By the way, that place is a BLAST!!!
Update about Opening Day:So I've heard through the grapevine that the City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department is going to open the skatepark on Monday November 2nd. That's right, only 3 months later than they had originally speculated but better late than never. Unfortunately, I will be in Las Vegas for the SEMA Show that week so I won't be there for opening day but you better believe that I will be there everyday the week after. Feel free to leave a comment or two after you've ridden the park to voice your feelings on the setup.
The official city link about opening day is HERE. The Park will be opening on November 2nd.
Update:I created a Facebook group for the Lewisville Skatepark. Check it out HERE.
Railroad Park looks like it is basically complete but they still haven't opened it yet. Around September 1st the city shut down Bennett Ln (aka tore up the road surface) near the intersection of Railroad St. and I'm assuming this is why they haven't opened the park. Everything looks like it is ready to be shredded but I don't think they're going to open the park until they finish the construction on Bennett Ln. I searched the City of Lewisville website and I found this information below that indicates a "soft open" in late October. I'm not sure what a "soft open" is but there you go.
Park Board Meeting Held
At their Wednesday, September 9, 2009 meeting the Park Board reviewed rules and policies for three areas relating to Parks. Park Curfew hours were discussed and a presentation was made which showed a comparison of what other area cities are doing relating to this issue. The Park Board recommended that the current curfew hours stay the same. Skate Park and Dog Park rules and policies were also discussed, and the Park Board made recommended changes to these prior to being posted on the gates at the respective areas at the new Railroad Park. An update for the completion of Railroad Park was presented and management still is on track to have a “soft open” sometime in late October, provided all issues with construction completion have been satisfied.
Yesterday a friend of mine told me that the new skatepark in Lewisville, TX is completed (even though it's not open yet) so I decided that today I would go by there and take a few pictures for anyone who's interested. The skatepark has a great looking bowl section with a mini box jump in the bottom of it as well as an amazing skate plaza section. I can't wait for this place to open up to the public because once it does, I will be stopping by there everyday after work. Enjoy the pics.

For some good aerial photos from the Site Design Group (the design company hired to build the park) you can check out their site HERE.
After a comment that was left by a reader asking the location & address of the new park I decided I should put a map & address up for everyone else that is curious. The park is located at the intersection Bennett Ln & S Railroad St. Check the map below, the park is located where the green arrow is pointing.
